Sending your first campaign
Open Marketing, then Email Campaigns. This page lists every email you have, with folders down the side, a search box, filters for type and status, and columns for Sends, Opened, Clicked, Unsub. and Last updated.
Create the email. Click New email. Pick a type and give it an internal name (only you see it), then press Create email.
- Broadcast is one email sent once, for newsletters, announcements and promotions.
- Sequence is a timed series delivered through automations, covered in Automations and sequences.
A broadcast opens with six tabs: Content, Audience, A/B test, Schedule, Analytics and Settings.
Write it. The Content tab shows your subject, preheader and design status. Click Edit in builder to design it, see Using the email builder. The tab reads "Ready to send" once a saved design exists.
Choose the audience. On the Audience tab, pick either:
- All subscribed contacts, everyone in Contacts who is subscribed to marketing, or
- Specific tags or lists, where you tick any combination of tags, lists and segments. Selections combine as an "any of" union, so a contact matching one of them is included once.
A live recipient count updates as you tick. Unsubscribed and bounced contacts are always excluded automatically, you do not need to filter for them.
Send now or schedule. The Schedule tab opens with an "Almost there" checklist covering the two things that block a send, designing the email and choosing an audience. Once both are done:
- Send now goes out immediately to everyone in your audience. You are asked to confirm, with the recipient count in the dialog. Once sending starts it cannot be unsent.
- Schedule takes a date and time and sends automatically. The time has to be in the future.
After you commit. A scheduled email shows a banner with Pause and Cancel schedule, and cancelling returns it to Draft as long as nothing has been sent yet. While sending, a banner offers Pause. If any deliveries fail, a Retry failed button re-queues just those, and anyone already delivered is never sent twice.
Housekeeping. The Settings tab renames the email, moves it to a folder, makes a copy, or deletes it. Deleting removes the design, audience and schedule, but keeps past sending history.
