Completion certificates

Certificates are a course feature. Open a course and click the Certificates tab. Other product types do not have one.

Turn on Enable certificates. The switch does what it says: members who complete 100% of this course can download their certificate.

Pick a design. Five are built in:

• Classic, ivory with a double frame and serif type.
• Modern, left aligned with a bold sans and an accent bar.
• Elegant, navy and gold with a luxe serif.
• Bold, with a colour-block sidebar.
• Minimal, whitespace and hairlines.

Then set the wording. You can change the certificate title, the opening line above the student's name, the line under the student's name, a signature name, and a short custom note printed above the footer. Leave a field blank and a sensible default is used.

Choose what is shown. Three checkboxes control the course title, the issue date and the certificate number. Below them, Certificate valid for (months) stamps an expiry date. Leave it empty and the certificate never expires.

Add your mark. Set an accent colour and, optionally, a logo image from your media library. With no logo, your brand name is printed as a text wordmark instead.

Preview before you save. The Preview PDF button opens a sample certificate made out to a fictional student, so you can check the layout without waiting for a real completion.

What actually triggers a certificate. Nothing is issued when you save the template. A certificate is created the first time a member requests it from inside the course, and only when all of these hold:

1. They are logged in and entitled to the course.
2. The course is published.
3. They have completed every published lesson in every published module.
4. The template exists and is enabled.

Each certificate is issued once. The first download creates the record with a unique certificate number, and every later download re-serves that same record with the same number and issue date. Adding lessons afterwards does not reissue or renumber a certificate someone already holds.
