Email sending settings
Sending settings live in two places. The sender identity and sending domain are on the Domain page. Your postal address, email logo and subscriber confirmation are on Marketing settings. Marketing settings links across to the Domain page with a Sender identity and domain button.
Start with the sending domain. On the Domain page, scroll to the section about sending from your own domain. Enter the domain you own, without www, and press Set up email domain. If you already have a web domain connected, the field is prefilled with a suggestion.
Add the DNS records it gives you. These are shown as Type, Name or Host, and Value or Target, mostly TXT records. SPF and DKIM are required for sending. Tracking and DMARC improve deliverability. Add all four if you can.
Four chips show you exactly what has verified: SPF, DKIM, Tracking and DMARC. Each turns green as it is confirmed, so you can see which record still needs attention rather than guessing. The domain badge reads Pending, Verifying, Verified or Failed.
Press Check status after adding the records. Propagation takes time, so check again rather than starting over.
Then set your sender identity. In the Sender identity card:
- From name. How your emails introduce themselves. Usually your brand.
- Reply to. Optional. Replies go here instead of the from address.
- From address. Choose between the default address, whose first part you can edit, and any domain you have verified, where you pick the part before the at sign. A common choice is hello at your own domain.
Verified domains only appear as options once they are actually verified, and trying to send from an unverified one is rejected.
Press Save. If the default address you picked is already taken by someone else you are told to pick another.
Removing an email domain falls back to the default sender rather than breaking your sends.
Double opt-in is on Marketing settings, in the Subscriber confirmation section. Tick it to ask new subscribers to confirm their email before you market to them. It improves deliverability and is required in some regions.
While you are on that page, fill in the rest. Your marketing contact address appears in email footers to comply with anti spam laws, and your company logo sits at the top of your marketing emails. Around 600 by 300 works well.
For the web side of the same page, see Connecting your domain.
