Connecting a payment provider
Before you can sell anything, you need a payment provider connected. Money goes straight into your own account, so this is your connection, not a shared one.
Where to find it. Open Sales, then Payments. The page shows one card per provider with a status badge: Connected, Pending or Not connected.
Stripe
Stripe handles card payments, and it is the only provider that supports subscriptions.
- Click Connect to Stripe.
- You are sent to Stripe to sign in to your existing account or create a new one.
- When you come back, the card shows Connected, the date you connected, and your Stripe account ID.
Once connected you will see the line Card checkout is live on your sales pages, plus the card brands and wallets buyers can use. Payouts land in your bank and are managed entirely in your Stripe dashboard.
If you see a message that Stripe Connect is not configured yet, the connection has not been set up at the platform level. Contact whoever runs your workspace.
PayPal
PayPal covers one-time purchases only.
- In your own PayPal developer dashboard, go to Apps & Credentials and create an app.
- Paste the Client ID and Secret into the PayPal card.
- Tick Sandbox (test mode) if you are testing with PayPal sandbox credentials, then click Connect to PayPal.
Your credentials are checked immediately. If they cannot be verified you get an error and nothing is saved as connected. When a sandbox connection is live, the card shows a Sandbox marker so you do not mistake test takings for real ones.
Test versus live. PayPal has the sandbox tick box on this page. Stripe has no test switch here, so treat a connected Stripe account as live and run a small real purchase to confirm the flow.
Disconnecting. Each connected card has a Disconnect button. New checkouts with that provider stop working, your past orders are kept, and you can reconnect at any time.
Fees. Processor fees are yours. If a processing fee applies in your workspace, the page shows the percentage taken from each card payment.
Refunds are issued in your Stripe or PayPal dashboard. They flow back here automatically and revoke the buyer's access. See Managing orders.
