Site analytics
Site analytics covers your published public pages: who visited, where they came from, and how far they got.
Where to find it. Open Analytics, then Site Analytics.
The numbers
A Live pill at the top counts unique visitors in the last five minutes. It only appears on the 7, 30 and 90 day presets, since a historical window has no live figure.
Four tiles follow:
- Views, total page views in the window.
- Unique visitors, with a returning-visitor percentage underneath.
- Avg. time on page, with average scroll depth underneath.
- Bounce rate, with total clicks underneath.
A bounce here is an engagement bounce: a visit under 10 seconds with no clicks at all.
The panels
Traffic charts page views per day across the window.
Traffic sources groups visits into Direct, Search, Social and Referral, worked out from the referring site and any UTM tags on the landing URL.
Devices and Top countries break the same visits down another way.
Engagement repeats average time, average scroll, returning share and clicks as a list.
Top pages is a table of your most-viewed pages with Page, Type, Views, Visitors and Avg. time.
Click heatmaps shows small previews for your five newest published pages. See Heatmaps.
How tracking works
Tracking is first-party and built in. There is no third-party analytics service, no external script and no data leaving for another company.
A small script runs on your published pages. It records a view on load, then sends time on page, scroll depth and click count when the visitor leaves, plus a refresh every 30 seconds so long reads are not lost.
To count unique visitors it stores a random ID in a first-party cookie that lasts a year. That ID is hashed before it is stored, so the raw value never lands in your data. No names, emails or IP addresses are recorded.
Device, browser, operating system, traffic source and country are all worked out on the server from the request itself, so no lookup service is involved.
Only published pages are tracked. Previews and editor views are not.
Per-page detail
From your Pages list, open a page's analytics for the same figures scoped to that one page, plus browser and referrer breakdowns and a link straight to its heatmap.
